Main Message Board / National Sail Supply
March 10, 2020, 10:11:52 AM
Anyone have experience with/opinion of National Sail Supply? I know they manufacture out of the country, but they are almost $1,000 cheaper for a new mainsail w/lazy bag set up.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Looking for some insight/guidance on what we can expect under motor (acknowledging the variability of conditions). Generally speaking, we don't do a lot of motoring. We're on our first extended cruise and have run into unfavorable winds. I have a two-blade prop (not sure of the pitch) and have been maxing out at 4-4.3 knots. RPMs are at 2500, temperature a steady 160. We've got a long slog tomorrow with 8-10 mph winds forecast to be on the nose. Wondering if I just need to accept the fact that this is about as good as I'm going to get from the 25XP with my current prop configuration. Would also welcome thoughts on what I could expect by investing in a new prop.
Thanks in advance.

Main Message Board / Removing Original Nicro Vent
March 31, 2017, 08:56:31 AM
Hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge out there. When I bought Reverie last season, the solar vents were pretty much taped in place, non-functioning. I believe they are the original Nicro vents.  Replacing them is on my punch list before launch. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on loosening whatever adhesive/sealant was used to install them. Screws are out, but there's no give from the cabin top. Also no apparent place to begin from inside the head or aft cabin.  I've attached pics.  While I'm at it, I'm wondering if there's any new perspective on going with the Marinco Nicro at the higher price point, or the cheaper versions that are roughly half the price. Thanks in advance for any insight on both points.

Main Message Board / Companionway Step Split
November 10, 2016, 01:34:46 PM
Several weeks before haul-out, the lower step on the upper section of my companionway steps cracked and split. I tried gorilla glue with 3 3/4' wide ss repair plates running perpendicular to the split.  That repair lasted all of about a day. I'm thinking of trying again with additional & wider plates, may also look at gluing dowels or using long screws from the side of the step for added support.

Given that I've got plenty of time before launch next spring, I'm not going to rush into anything, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else has run into a similar problem, and if so, how they approached the repair.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/help.
