Main Message Board / Teak Handrail Footprint Stain
September 10, 2018, 12:55:22 PM
I am in the process of replacing my teak handrails with stainless a set I am having custom fabricated.  The new handrail will not be touching the coach roof in as many places as the old teak ones. So, this requires getting off the old dirty footprints under the old handrails.  The footprint seems to be a combination of a little varnish around the edge that crept under the teak feet, and years of very stubborn dirt.  There doesn't appear to be any silicon sealer.
I have already tried various deck cleaning products with a very stiff brush and it doesn't budge (not even the dirt)! I am ready for something stronger, but don't want to hurt the grey deck paint.  Anybody been through this?  What do you suggest?

Main Message Board / Thai Teak Marine
March 14, 2016, 07:30:02 AM
I, along with others here, have used this company in the past to fabricate custom teak items.  Unfortunately, I placed an order for a teak cockpit table with these people about 2 months ago. Beware, they are no longer in business.  I got this email today.....

Unfortunately I have to inform you that Thai Teak Marine have bankrupt
(already for some longer time). All the workers are no longer here, that
is the reason why you havenĀ“t received any answer. If you have made any
payment, please contact the forwarder for helping you to return the money.

Sorry that I cannot help you more with this.

Best Regards,

Main Message Board / ST4000+ Failed Bench Test
March 25, 2015, 02:07:45 PM
I bought a never installed ST4000+ Autohelm system that I am bench testing at home before I take it to the boat and start drilling holes and pulling cables.

When I change the heading on the head unit, the wheel drive moves properly to the new position, then after sitting for about 20 seconds, the wheel drive starts to move about 1deg. every 5 seconds in the same direction. I called Raymarine and was told this is a fluxgate problem...maybe.  The guy at Raymarine wasn't too interested in helping me, so he may of just told me that to get me off the phone.

Oh, I also tried different location for the fluxgate in case of an interference problem, but it didn't change anything.

Main Message Board / Blower motor access
November 18, 2014, 08:20:44 AM
My blower motor has 2 crimp connectors on the wires that go from the cockpit panel blower switch to the blower motor. While working on my panel wiring project one of the wires to the blower pulled out of the crimp connector.  I can't reach it to re-crimp it through the opening for the panel.  I tried to acces the wires by removing the port panel in the aft berth, but no luck there.  Any suggestions?

Main Message Board / Engine panel question
October 20, 2014, 06:01:05 PM
I am the new VERY proud owner of a 1990 C34 which I have in a slip located in Alameda, Ca.  Since my boat is in great condition, but with no real "improvements" I have several projects ahead of me.

One of the first things to upgrade is the engine control panel and wiring, including removing/rerouting the Orange wire from the harness.  I have already removed the old (very worn out) panel, ordered a new blank panel (without gauges) and new connector upgrades from Dennis Igarashi.  Of course the wires aren't long enough, so I will be ordering the 16 foot harness next. Anyway, here is the question...what is the little circuit board mounted on the back of the water temp gauge? Is it just low oil pressure warning? My new panel I just got from Dennis has a new Piezo alarm already mounted on it??  Do use that instead?

Great to be here and thanks for the help!
