Fleet 5 / Helloooooooooooo Fleet 5
May 05, 2007, 12:02:16 AM
If you are a C34 owner in Washington State we invite you to join the C34 Fleet - Fleet 5. We held our first organizational meeting April 27 in Seattle. :clap We had folks from as far away as Olympia and Eatonville to the South and Anacortes and Bellingham to the North. We had a great time meeting all the other C34 owners that were at the meeting. We all had a chance to introduce ourselves and tell how we became involved in sailing. We scheduled our first cruise at the end of June and our second cruise for early September. Dates and destinations to follow so stay tuned. We are thinking the San Juan Islands for the first cruise and South Puget Sound for our second cruise.

Speaking of cruising:
If you are taking your C34 out for a week or a weekend or even a daysail and would like some company post where you are going on this site and let people know they are welcome to come along and who knows you might just meet some new C34 friends. :D

New friends, good pizza, great sailing stories - a great way to get Fleet 5 off to a sailing start.  :party This is going to be fun.

In the last month or so I saw a message with pictures about mounting Weaver Snap Davits to a C34 and an inflatable dingy. I can not find the post. One of the pictures showed the dingy with the davit parts glued to it. One of the parts had been glued in the wrong place and removed and re-glued. The poster did not use the standard davit but one with an extension or a lift. I have tried the search function and did not find the message I was looking for.

Does anybody remember the message or who posted it?

Thanks for the help.

Main Message Board / Anacortes Fleet

Jack, Ray, Randy, Captran and other Anacortes C34 Owners

It sounds like there might be some interest in getting a C34 Fleet started in the Anacortes area. The Officers of the C34IA are happy to help. I can send you a packet of information and instructions that was designed to help make the start up process quick and easy. We also have $300 available to help offset startup costs. Stu Jackson can provide you with a list of all C34IA members in your area. All you really need to do is arrange a meeting and elect Fleet Officers.

Any interest???

Let me know what your C34IA Officers can do to help.

Main Message Board / Bent Prop Shaft
July 15, 2004, 11:00:08 PM
Hi All

I hauled Unzipped (2000 Mark II, Hull #1484)today to give her a coat of bottom paint. Upon inspecting the prop shaft I discovered it is bent. When I spin the prop by hand I can see a wobble in the propeller end of the shaft. It appears to be bent just aft of the strut. The wobble is about 1/8 inch. I talked to the yard guy and he confirmed that it was bent and asked if I noticed any vibration. I do not. He suggested leaving it until I notice a problem and then replacing the shaft with a SS one.

It seems to me that a bent shaft even if it is not producing a noticable vibration would have to be putting unusual stress on the strut, cutless bearing (which seems OK), transmission, bearing, etc and could eventually cause some serious damage.

Does it seem reasonable to not repair it until later as the yard suggested or am I better off replacing it now?

Thanks

Main Message Board / Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms
March 22, 2004, 06:34:59 PM
I am thinking about installing both a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector in the engine space on my 2000 C34.  If I am motoring and I have an exhaust leak or a fire I would like an earlier warning than smoke billowing out somewhere.  Has anybody tried this?  Does anybody sees any problems with the idea.

Thanks in advance.

Main Message Board / Rigging for Spinnaker
February 07, 2004, 12:48:36 PM
Hi all

I would like to add a spinnaker pole topping lift to my 2000 C34 Mk II.  Is there a specific height that the swivel block should be attached to the forward face of the mast?  Does anybody have an internal spinnaker pole topping lift?  If so, how is the tail run aft to the cockpit?  Thanks

Main Message Board / Garhauer Outboard Hoist

I am considering adding a Garhauer Outboard Hoist to my C34 Mark II.  Has anybody installed one on their Mark II?  Where did you put it?  How does the base attach to the boat?

Thanks

Main Message Board / Riding Sail
March 05, 2003, 07:43:33 PM
When I anchor our C34 I find that that the boat swings from side to side and "sails" up the anchor line.  Has anyone found a way to stop this?  I am considering a riding sail.  Has anyone used one on a C34 with a split backstay?  How did you rig it?  Did it stop the swinging?

Thanks
