Main Message Board / Prop Shaft Size
March 18, 2012, 08:10:31 PM
Does anyone definitively know the length of the shaft for MK1.5 1990 with a M35 engine.

I saw a post from Ron a few years ago where he mentions 55" but I don't know if there are different lengths for various model years. I will call Catalina also.

Thanks

Main Message Board / Hawk's Electrical System
July 23, 2011, 05:51:28 PM
Ok I was about to set out my electrical/battery/charger/alternator issues following the trip up the coast where their are few options for shore power. This really tests the integrity of your battery systems and patience at times. While all was overall wel,l I'm not happy with the performance of my system AND I can't really say I know exactly how my system is set up. My so-called reserve 4D, new last summer, was largely discharged on return despite motoring for many hours on the last day...one of several issues I need to sort out.
All to say this post is timely and I will re-read these links so I can pose some specific questions.

Thanks guys.
Oh and I have a Promariner Protech 4 1240 charger...........I know Ron and Stu, I know.......

Main Message Board / Volt meter reading
May 18, 2009, 08:34:24 PM
Just back from several days out in the Gulf Islands and I noticed that after a couple hours motoring the volt meter reading in the cockpit panel dropped from 14.2 or so ,where it normally is when motoring, to 13. I motored for several hours and everything was fine. But that change in the reading is irritating me.
Any thoughts guys?

Has anyone replaced the control head of the old 4000 with the retro fit ST4000+? If so, any suggestions.
Raymarine indicates that the kit comes with a remote compass as it is not inside the head like the 4000. Where does that get put?

Wondering if this is straight forward.

Thanks,

Main Message Board / Transmission Fluid
March 29, 2009, 02:59:34 PM
I've read the previous threads on the topic but wonder whether warming up the engine will heat the fluid somewhat and assists in removing more of the old transmission fluid.........or not?
If so, I'll try it next time.

Thanks,

Main Message Board / Traveler Upgrade
December 06, 2008, 05:08:35 PM
Now on to the upgrade for the traveler to the 5:1 from Garhauer. There are many excellent threads on this site which I have read. Also have spoken to Guido at Garhauer as many of you have suggested to do.

The question though is whether to take the control lines forward then through a block and back under the dodger or simply aft over the roller conversion, through the zipper opening in the dodger and back to a swivel cam cleat mounted at the aft end of the cabin top? Maybe through a bullseye fairlead before the cam cleat also.

I'm wondering if there will be any difference in the traveler's operational smoothness leading lines forward then back.

Thanks for any input.

Main Message Board / Lazy Jacks
November 24, 2008, 09:36:37 PM
Just had my new North Sails main put on replacing the original main sail with the lazymate system (running up/down the topping lift). A somewhat odd but effective way of near self-flaking.

The question is whether to add lazy jacks. Nice to drop the main and keep it off the deck. But anyone dead against them?
I don't want any more lines to potentially slap the mast at anchor for instance. I did read Ron's description of his system.

Thanks for any input.
