Main Message Board / rocker switch
« on: August 03, 2020, 05:11:47 PM »
The light on my propane switch on the electrical panel no longer lights up.  The switch still works.  Does anyone have a used switch from an electrical panel that they replaced.
The switch is 13/16 by 5/16.  My panel is black if that is helpful.  Did anyone replace their electrical and keep the old one?  Catalina Direct is out of stock and will not have one available until this fall.  The one one is a simple off and on switch with a indicator light to the side of the switch will be their replacement.  No switch with the red light build into it.
Thanks for any help.

The yards were closed and we could not work on our boats.
I thing the US and Canadian border is going to open later this month.  I still need to wash and wax the boat.

We can work, launch and going sailing.  Opened up about 2wks ago.  Mother Nature is not cooperating.  Had rain and snow here today.  No warm weather yet.
Next week is looking a little better.

I have the same problem.  Use a velcro strap.  This winter I ordered a package of new ones from Amazon.  They are "Reusable Cinch Straps" with the logo of of Envisioned.  Work great.  For my boat they need to be 10'' long.

Have you given any thought to a light weight flexible solar panel on top of the bimini?

You might also check the air vent to the fuel tank.  It might be partially blocked.

Main Message Board / rubber seal for autohelm
« on: December 25, 2019, 12:24:19 PM »
I am looking for the rubber seal between the power supply and the motor on my Autohelm St4000+ .  It is the seal that covers the plug on the small motor that protects the electrical connection from the elements.  I have a small crack and would like to replace it.
Does anyone know the part # or where I might purchase it.  I have not contacted ray marine yet but will.
Thanks for any help.

Jim, I did change from 160 to 180.  It actually read 185(with engine running)  I am also in fresh water and did not notice any difference in performance.  The engine room felt warmer but no scientific evidence.  Half way through the summer, I took out the 180 and replaced it with the 160.  My thinking was that with the 160, I had more time if the engine should overheat due to weeds in the intake.

Thanks Jon.  always interesting to learn something new.  I think that the new chartplotter(echomap 64cv with ultra vision) also has this capability.
Thanks,
Paul

I do not have a tablet or smart phone.  Still using a flip phone.  We spend most of our time at anchor and are careful about power consumption. We have a 12 volt outlet to charge the phone and run the 12volt vacuum.(when needed).   Jon, how do you get a signal on your tablet or phone if you are out of reach of a signal?  Is the tablet like a paper chart when you do not get a signal?
Thanks,
Paul

I am staying with a chart plotter.  A tablet and phone requires them to be plugged in every evening.  Works if you spend a fair time at dock and also there a many areas in the North Channel and Lake Michigan that does not have wi-fi or cell phone coverage.  I know a lot of boaters that use their smart phones or tablets, just not for me.
