Main Message Board / Re: Leaking Lewmar port lights

I have had the same port leaks on my 2002 MK2. Cleaning and lubing the gasket is a yearly chore. But I have adjusted the closing fit by carefully tapping on the aluminum latches to tighten the fit. I used a screwdriver against the latches and a small hammer to do this. Be careful, it worked for me.

Southport will not allow owners to paint under the cradle pads upon launch. If they apply the VC-17, they will paint under the cradle pads. If you rent the jackstands, you might move to paint under them. Seems a little risky and not sure what the yard's policy is on owners moving jackstands.
I just let them paint the bottom every 2 years.

I replaced the microwave in my Mk2 with a Willz from Amazon. it was a little narrower than the original, used a small oak 1/4 round as a front batten. Might work for you.

I ordered 4 cans of blue yesterday from Wholesale Marine. They shipped today to arrive tomorrow. They were in stock on all colors except red. Hope this helps.

Had the same problem on a friend's boat with an Oberdorfer pump. Turned out that the cover was distorted. Different/new cover solved the problem. Sanding/flattening the old cover did not help. My experience only.

When I bought my 2002 MK2, I had a Flex-o-Fold 15x10 installed, at the recommendation from Flex-o-Fold. The boat ran too fast at idle making docking and close maneuvers difficult. I bought and had 15x9 blades installed, much better and did not notice any difference in motoring speed. Have had the 15x9 for 12 years now recommend this size for the MK2.

If anyone wants 15x10 blades, let me know.

Main Message Board / Re: Engine Not Producing Full Power

I had the exact symptom with my MK2 M35. It was the fuel pump. Replaced and has been good for 6 years. Not the same engine, but same symptom. Be sure the pump wires were not disconnected; I think Mk1 M25 may still run with a defective pump.
May not apply but worked for me. Good luck!

Ordered mine from The Canvas Store, Huntington, NY in 2006. Cover fits my 2002 well and is durable. Have had several seam repairs at no charge. After 14 winters, still good.

Les, I replaced the damper plate on my 2002 without removing the bell housing.
Good Luck!

Hi Les,
You bought my 30 when I moved to the 34. Had the same transmission problem with my 2002 34, bought a new ZF 10 M from Harbor Marine, Everett WA. Cost was $1,200 in 2012. (425)-259-3285.

Trans Atlantic Diesel may also have the ZF 10 M (804)642-9296   https://www.ta diesels.com/contact.html

Have had no problems since, Good luck!

I had my 2002 MK2 detailed and polished by my boat yard. Hull and decks look like new. They used ROLL OFF on the non-skid.

Technician recommended cleaning non-skid with STARBRITE non-skid deck cleaner, which claims to leave a non-slippery protective polymer coating.

Main Message Board / Re: In mast furling

I have in mast furling on my 2002 and have enjoyed this convenience for 14 years. I do have a newer Doyle main with large vertical battens that make the sail set properly and has the added roach to perform well. I would never go back to a Stack Pack or conventional sail cover.
14 years, never jammed, easy to furl by hand. But it would be very expensive to convert.

Robert,
I am interested in the 30 gallon tank you will be installing in your MK 11. Where did you get it? and will it fit in the original compartment. I would also like to increase the tank capacity.
Thanks,
Dave

Evan, I have a 2002 MK 11 #1626 with a Neil Pryde cruising spinnaker. According to the design sheet that came with it, the measurements are:
Luff 43.25", Leech 38.8", Foot 22.5". My boat has a pair of blocks on the outside track that I use for the spinnaker, I have blocks on the inside track that are used almost exclusively for the genoa sheets. The spinnaker is tacked on the anchor ring on the bowsprit of the boat. This sail was measured to allow participation in the Chicago to Mackinac race so should be correct for my sail.

The 2004 C-34 spec sheet shows the I measurement to be  44' for standard rig, 46' for tall rig. I was told that all roller furling main boats were tall rig.
Not sure this is  correct, but mine is a roller furling main-tall rig. Hope this helps!

The Adler in my 2002 uses R-134 but has the R-12 connection. I used a R-12 to R-134 adapter, available at automotive stores to connect and recharge with the correct R-134. I don't believe R-134 was used in 93. You need to research this, the recharge is very specific and can be dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing.
