Main Message Board / Re: Engine Mount Bracket

Ron,  We are at the Brewer yard in Mystic. The mechanic  found that the engine was seriously out of alignment.  After adjusting the alignment in the water, the mechanic told us that there was a lot of vibration in the shaft which to him means a bent shaft. We are planning to pull the boat to check the shaft, but don't feel confident we have identified the problem.  Does this seem right to you?    How can we tell whether the vibration is from a still existing alignment problem or whether it is the shaft?

We really need to learn more about the boat and appreciate all your help. Rick

We have a 1990 Catalina 34 and have been having problems with the L-shaped brackets that join the engine to the front engine mounts (isolators). We've had the boat two years and about two weeks ago noticed that both brackets were broken. The brackets do not appear to be standard for the Universal M25-XP, but may have been a Catalina modication.  In any case, we had new 1/4 inch stainless steel brackets fabricated.  Now, less than two weeks later, one of the new brackets has broken.   Has anyone heard of similar problems? Thanks John.

I  have my piece from Home Depot, but was hoping to get it cut and finished before we go to the boat.  If you get a chance, please send me the measurement.

Main Message Board / Head shelf

I want to make the shelf for the head described in "Projects," but my boat is in CT and I'm in MN.  Does anyone know the dimensions?  Particularly, how wide the projection is.

My wife is a weaver and has been agonizing about finding a floor loom that will fit in the cockpit of our new C34.  Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?
