Wondering if the link 2000 monitor can send its info to the Raymarine E7d?

Ron, I think the VS pumps say no accumulator.

I hear from so many sources that the VS pumps are unreliable.  Our local West Marine says they get a lot of shurflo VS pump returns.  The Jabsco par max plus has good reviews on west Marine. The shurflo ratings on West Marine are not very good.

I currently have a belt drive 3.3 GPM 40psi 6 amp.  It doesn't have enough pressure, its really loud, and variable flo.

So I am looking to switch to a 5 GPM, 60 psi, 12 amp Jabsco par max plus and accumulator tank.
Any thoughts? This is on a Cat 42 Mark II so there are two heads and 3 sinks.

The jabsco guy recommended the later because he said the VS cycles on and off. It wakes you up.

Looking for pros and cons.

Thanks Stu!  We are very excited.  Especially with a 5 and 8 yr old.

Nothing compares to this forum it's the best. The engine room is clean as a whistle and has a fireboy halon fire suppression system.

Well I will never leave the best Catalina board in the world. Although we are selling our 34 tall rig.  I love this boat and we have done about every upgrade you can imagine.

The 42 has a westerbeke 63hp this is a one owner boat with only 190 original hours. I believe it is the only one that has this engine.  Owner is friends with Frank and ordered it that way.  Do you see any issues with this engine? Pros and cons?At the time they were putting in yanmar 44hp and he wanted a bigger engine

The owner never really used the boat.  Still has the styrofoam inside the microwave. Holding tanks have never been used.

How long will the westerbeke 42b last?

Any ideas on what to look for on the 400?

I am going to check it out tomorrow.

I have had my 34 for 10 years now.  What a great boat.  With a 5 and 8 year old I am looking for a little more room.  The admiral wants a centerline queen and likes the layout of the 400.  She didn't like the layout of the 42's at all.

Be careful with the old ones w/out the water line.  You don't have to have it recirculating just run it vertical above the water line.

They don't even make the old style w/out the waterline anymore.  Mine was one w/out and it failed.

They also recommend to run your engine at least once a month in gear.

We go to Catalina Island quite a bit and are looking for the best console rib situation.

The walker bay Console rib 10' 2" seems like the least amount of weight at 221 1bs.  This rib can take up to a 20 hp 4 stroke.  which weighs about 114 lbs.

Well I have definitely decided to go smaller.    The question that still remains is what is the safest and most efficient way to transport?

I tow a 9.5 rib now without the engine.  I am looking to buy an 11'2 console rib with a 30hp 4stroke it is around 420 lbs.

Can we tow that?  How much will that slow us down in around 3-4' seas?
Tow,rib on foredeck or Garhauer davits which is best?

Has anyone put a console rib on their foredeck?  I see the 10.2 Walker Bay console ribs are very light I wonder if that would fit or is it better to get davits?

Ron thanks for the offer I couldn't wait I needed done before that.  I apologize for the delay for the post.

First I was worried about the measurements Catalina direct was showing on their website. They are showing 141/4".  It is so tight for that muffler to fit and mine was 13 7/8 ish. I called them and asked them to take the one out they are shipping to me and it was the same size as mine.

Second, I took out all the screws of the old muffler and it wouldn't budge.  It was gel coated in.   I took a hammer and hit around to break the seal and that worked.

Third VERY IMPORTANT! Do not take out the aft stateroom.  Take the door off the sink move the fuel pump and filters, disconnect the hoses and take out and put in the new muffler through the sink door.

Fourth cockpit lazarette cut old hose it's about half way. Take panel off  where fuel tank is then you can grab hose in aft stateroom and push through. This is one way to do it with one person.

New hose, go through hole in cockpit lazarette push through.  Then go down below in aft stateroom grab hose and pull. Go to sink opening pull.

Other end feed through hole leading aft.  The new hose is so much easier getting in as a continuous 17' then even getting the old hose out being cut in half.

I used all 17'. Remember where all the bends are. Take pics.

I have a pic of completed install.  Stu I am not sure how to upload it.  I wanted to get some info to the board.  Out of time got to go.

I am trying to get the outlet tube to clear the ceiling.  If I dremel off about a quarter inch off the tube it will clear.  Do you think its a problem to do the same with the new one?

Any other suggestions?

Also Catalina direct says there's is 14 1/4 and mine is 14" will that present a problem?

After I took all 4 screws out it wouldn't budge it was completely gel coated in.  I had to take a hammer and screwdriver to break it loose.

My fiberglass tube is so tweaked, the hump hose one, I would have to glass in a new one.  Being the original I thought I might as well replace it.  The tube is cracked and mushy and coming apart.  I think it was screwed up from the beginning.  I repaired it about 5 years ago but it is just started leaking again I tried to repair again but it's to far gone.  I am going to repl ace my exhaust hose at the same time.  I have already done the hump hose and the new stainless  exhaust from the factory.

I have to replace my muffler.  Does anyone have an alternative to Catalina direct?  There up to $374.00 plus the cost of the petcock.

Can you still get them from the Catalina Factory in  Woodland Hills? If so do you have to go custom? I need it before the two weeks they take for custom.
