Well, got the problem solved.
The problem was with the cicuit board located behind the engine instrument panel. A compromise had to be made .
The over heating alarm had to be disconnected completly and we installed a red light as a warning for low oil pressure. Will see if I can locate a new circuit board for the instrument panel, Any ideas where I could find one ?

Main Message Board / Re: Mounting Solar Panels
April 20, 2006, 05:57:12 PM
I have a Statpower 40amps with 4 Trojan 6 volts battery bank. Will a 1000 watts generator be strong enough to do the job.I was told it is border linebasedontheamperage output of the 1000 watts unit. The problem with the 2000, it wont fit in my locker. Am seriously considering a 120 watts solar panel mounted above the bimini
Any comments ?

Although expensive, this is about the best insulation available R30 for 1" thick insulation. Other thickness also available.
To be installed inside box covered with plastic liner for a nice clean cleanable finish.

Main Message Board / Dodger and Solar Fans
August 24, 2005, 05:47:19 PM
I am 5'7. The height of the dodger is 60" which give me great visibility either sitting or standing while still easy to go down below.
The sides are removable clear panel so they give me good visibility and do not obstruct the operation of the solar vent.
I strongly recommend the side hand grip that are bolted on the tubing. would not live without them and they do make the whole frame more solid. no straps. I also had a grab bar installed on the aft edge of the dodger.
One inch tubing was used for the frame.
By the way , the enclosure was the best investment for our kind of weather. Hardly spend any time below, rain or shine.

Main Message Board / Maxwell Winch Service
August 15, 2005, 05:18:13 PM
Well I too will need to get my windlass serviced, at least it seems the brushes are sticking. I manage to remove the forward bulkhead and at the suggestion of a friend, I pounded on the casing a few times with a rubber mallet and got it going again but only temporally until too a good load was applied then it stopped. I guess I will need to replace the brushes.
Has anyone changed the brushes and can it be done by a small electric motor specialist or do I need to send it to Maxwell for service?

Main Message Board / Headroom
July 13, 2005, 09:11:21 PM
I am 5'7" and I feel sorry for you tall 6 feet plus guys, because headroom is rarely a problem for me and being kind of short make everything look a lot bigger.
I did live aboard an Ericson 25+ for 4 full years and it was great well maybe a little tight but it was not really an issue.
Just a thought

I too am on Lake Champlain at Snug Harbor and often go to Mallets Bay. I had most of my electrical redone , Batteries 4  x 6volts, alternator 100 amps.  There was a refit published by Jim Moe who had put together a real nice upgrade for me and it has worked real well. Would be happy to show the you the work done on my boat.

Main Message Board / Float switch - bilge pump
June 12, 2005, 07:39:56 PM
I too had the same problem with the float switch plus my pump was acting up on me.  Replace the switch and pump  with new and the switch is still leaving the pump on with no water  left i the bilge.  I tighten the screw  holding  the float switch and  that did not make any difference. Sometimes it works well sometime it doesn't.
Now I have seen it all . A FLOAT SWITCH WITH AN ATTITUDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Main Message Board / Replacing batteries
June 08, 2005, 11:58:46 AM
One of the first thing I did when I got ELIOSSO was to upgrade the batteries. I opted for golf cart batteries. Purchased 4 TROJAN T105 that fit nicely into the battery locker under the settee. I also have a starting battery behind the engine. I also upgraded the alternator to 100 with external regulator as per Jim Moe's recommendation. At the dock, an TRUECHARGE 40 keep the batteries well charged. The system has worked well for more than a year and I don,t have a fit when I see a light on.

Main Message Board / Instruments installation
May 30, 2005, 08:30:29 PM

Well I got them to work, had a problem with the ground.
Need to calibrated them but all works well and are visible from behind the helm. Need only to conceal the wires. The pod is bolted to the side rails and is very strong, Now am a happy camper. On to the next project.

ps , am not aground, need only to adjust the depth sounder
