Thank you all for weighing in. Your feedback is very helpful. Nice job Noah getting your prop and shaft looking new. Noah, my home town is San Diego. I grew up in Poway.

Tomorrow is paint day!

Hi all. First hall out and bottom paint which I am doing. I have a question about the area near the rudder. How are you all prepping/painting the area between the rudder and the hull. It is tight. I would guess most are not dropping the rudder and just getting in the and handing sanding and painting? Any help on this would be great.

Second question is about the strut. The previous owner put bottom paint on the lower and up section of the struct but not near the zinc. Is it ok to paint the struct or will that generate issues?

thanks for the part# and the suggestion. Looks like the part has been replaced with a different design. I may try to swap it out.

thanks, that helps.

hello all. My fresh water pump occasionally leaks because the clear part in the picture pops open. When it does this, the freshwater tank slow drains into the bilge.

1. Does anyone know what this part is? I looked online under the model, but can't find anything that looks like this.
2. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks Ron. I will check on the inside of the main sail track. There is defiantly not anything on the outside of the mast. My mast is deck stepped with a compression post(2001 mkII).

Quote from: tomsoyer on April 14, 2024, 09:32:41 PMI am looking into new sails and I wanted to make sure my vessel is truly a tall rig as I thought it was. I measured the mast from its base on deck to the spin halyard sheave . I got 44'. The 'I' dimension for the standard rig is 44' and tall rig is 46'. What I am not clear on is the mast height measured from the base or from the boats shear line which would be about 2' lower then the base of the mast.

Thanks. That that definition of 'I' is what I was looking for.

Thank you all for the valuable feed back. I really appreciate the help.

I am going to go with a Catalina direct exhaust riser and a Sea Kamp heat exchanger. Heat exchanger came today in the mail. Only took a day to get it after ordering, and I am supposed to get the riser tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to start on the project this weekend!

Ron,

the hose currently on the nipple is:

which i was planning on replacing with the same thing. Did you have other hose recommendations?

Tom : The Hump hose is installed between the exhaust riser and the muffler to protect the inlet muffler collar from the engine vibrations (which over time WILL crack that fiberglass inlet collar!!! )   :cry4`

A thought

Thanks, i will definitely be adding a hump hose.

Tom : I'm familiar with the flange, exhaust riser and hump hose / aqualift muffler, but what is the "exhaust elbow" that you refer to??

A thought

I meant exhaust riser.

I am not the guy to give you specifics on your 35B motor. I have an M25XP. Not sure what you mean "what was your approach with Aqualift muffler"? My original muffler is doing fine. Do install a hump hose.

What i meant by what approach did you take with your aqual lift muffler is did you use a hump hose or do anything non standard. Recent post that i saw was unsinging 2  hump hose and a fiberglass elbow. Sounds like you should used a hump hose.

One year. Works great! I also have a Seakamp 3 in. HX for 7 years. Flushed it once last year with lime-away. It also works great.

Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions. I am going to be doing a exhaust upgrade and just working through everything i need and how to do it.

What is the year of your vessel?

For the exhaust elbow, what additional parts did you need. I am pretty sure i need this flange for the elbow:

Not sure if i need  to get this:https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by-boat/catalina-350/engine/exhaust-system/engine-exhaust-flange-female-circular-quotbquot-series-engine/?SearchResults=1

what approach did you take with the aqua lift muffler?
