Though I haven't done mine yet, I have pump up suction cups (4x) that have a camera 1/4-20 thread in the center.  The plan is to build some cleats that span the opening and use a wing nut and all thread to pull the windows in place so the sealant can cure.  The only issue is that I only have 4 so it will be a one at a time affair.

I have the Kuuma, but it came with the boat.  I have no knowledge of how old it is.

Thanks for the write up.  I have been quite anxious about doing this job.  I have planned for the foam tape spacers.  Can you elaborate more how you did this part?  I am a bit curious how to do it so the foam tape doesnt show up on the outside of the glass.

I believe Ron is referring to the first roll stop hatch pissition which has the hatch nearly horizontal... "straight out".

I can second Noah's explanation of a cold solder joint.  It isnt ambient temperature, but rather the solder not reaching the appropriate temperature during the soldering process that creats a risck for joint failure.

There are other brands of surface mount speakers that are likely a significant improvement in aound quality.  I would encorage you to seach for other options if you have the space to mount them.

Those solder connectors are pretty cool.  You do have to make sure your copper is clean though.  If there is any dark or corroded strands, youll want to use some snad paper and try to get the bright.  If the wire is tinned, this isnt an issue.

I have the tini ones.  They work well enough but arent big noise makers.  I mostly use the to listen to quiet music or podcasts while admiring the view.  I cant say they would work great at higher volumes.

EXCITING!!!

Patches,

Awesome!!!  I'm happy to hear you did it.  I recall this was being planned for some time.  I went to Barkley Sound on my folks' boat when I was VERY young and still remember stern tying just 20' off the shore and feeling the boat rise and fall with the incoming swell from the Pacific: fantastic!!

Jon... I'd be interested to see your details.

Breakin',

I have an expectation that I should be able to run flat out without the temp rising.  At cruising speed, it stays at 165 or so.  I have been working through things... I was way over propped, changed for a campbell sailor to allow engine to reach full spec rpm at max throttle. Cleaned injectors to make sure they werent running lean.  Used banacle buster on the heat exchanger.  Found the water jacket for the fresh water circuit was rusty... rust acts as an insulator.  Flushed fresh water circuit and then filled with evaporust.  Have been running that now for the summer.  The next step is to drain the evaporust and remove the heat exchanger and have it boiled out at a radiator shop.

I have a few other ideas to change the 90 degree fittings at the OB pumps for 45s to reduce head pressure.  The last step will be to try the JMP pump.

I really like to fiddle.  The boat behaves in a predictable fashion so it presently isnt a limiting factor.  I feel the cooling system should have enough overhead to cool the engine even at max load.  Figuring it out is an intereating puzzle.

I like that story Jim.  You gave him something to do to distract him from the fear only to have him enjoy himself.
