Main Message Board / frozen diesel cutoff lever

Not sure what they call that diesel cutoff lever.
But yesterday, she finally froze up on me. I had to manually shut her down. Is it just wd40 to release or do you ever have to replace the shutoff lever.
Thanks
Ron

I am leaking antifreeze at the base of the elbow on the heat exchanger

A few weeks ago I had an overheating problem, first time in 3 yrs owning the boat.  I eventually bypassed my waterheater, and solved my overheating problem, so I thought. Did about 5 nice 3 to 4 hour day sails since, and temp Guage never went over 160. That is until yesterday, she spiked as we were coming into the dock. Which we fell short of because we killed the engine.
After a cool down, we realized the radiator was empty with all of its contents in the bildge. I had used a 3/8 fuel hose as the bipass of the waterheater, until I got a delivery of a 3/8 radiator hose. Which was tough to find. Anyway going down this morning to check that hose I installed the last time out..

Main Message Board / bypassing hot water heater??
July 05, 2016, 12:33:19 PM
By bypassing my water heater today with a temporary 3/8" fuel hose, I was able to eliminate my overheating problem. The hose coming off both the fresh water circulatory pump and the thermostat base is 3/8".  Where do I find this 3/8" 'radiator' hose to complete the loop.
thanks,

Main Message Board / old pencil zinc remains...
May 14, 2016, 08:56:19 AM
Good afternoon(morning),
Getting my boat ready for another season in New York. I replaced my zincs just before I launched last week. Every time I replace the pencil zinc the remains break off in the heat exchanger. I read somewhere that leaving the remains in there could be a problem. I took off the cap ends of the exchanger, but I cant figure how one would be able to remove chunks of zinc.
Should I just leave the zinc remains in there and hope they desolve or find a way to get out??
Thanks Ron

Thanks for the responses, I am all over the Electrical Systems 101 reads, and your writeups, mainesail are very good. lots of informative stuff. I need to revamp my system, I always figured it wasn't wired properly. I should have inquired before I  made the agm purchase, hopefully I didn't already mess them up...
