Following Peggie Hall's advice, I ordered the water tank from Ronco Plastics - #B182-C. They were more than helpful and quite accommodating. All together, I received the tank for $250. Thanks again, Ronco.

Installed it this morning...missed the hose that connects the water tank to the plumbing....sigh. Water pours in. Noticed the hose was never clamped on the old WT either.

New WT works great, no problems yet.

Top: Save your fittings. The new WT did not ship with them.

Decision has been made. New water tank from Ronco will be ordered next week along with Edson order.

Although I do not know for certain, I doubt this boat was up north. The PO did not know much about the state of the vessel, though I'm pretty amazed this wasn't noted on the survey.

I called CD. Because this tank will be a custom job, I will be unable to return it if it does not fit the compartment. Therefore, I need to take some measurements. At $299.99, need to be pretty sure of those dimensions.

But Ronco plastics. Roger that.

Just climbed out of the aft lazarette and am filled with fiberglass spurs.

Searched for a part number for the water tank - no avail. Maybe it's written on the front of the tank?

This crack...let me explain it a bit better. It's as if someone ripped the water tank apart, cutting through the top board and then running diagonally down the aft face.

Round #2, fight! I'll keep all updated.

Upon attempting to fill up my aft water tank, I discovered (...how the surveyor missed this, I have no idea) that the water tank is cracked so tht it does not carry any water. Whatever water I pumped into the tank (10 gallons) ended in either the bilge or soaked through the aft cushions.

Has anyone ever had to replace their entire water tank? I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Hey all,

Just finished velcroing the plexiglass cover to my instrument panel and weatherstripping the companionway. And I'm thinking about beginning my first "large" project - the missing hull panels in the Salon and V Berth.

I followed the conversations back in November 2009, of contacting H&L Lumber. Has any one done this project? The starboard salon paneling is still in place, so I'd need to buy/construct the port salon and the entire v berth.

Anyone have any ideas, any tips? I'm also going to construct an awning of sorts for the cockpit/foredeck.

Does anyone have an idea to the proper poundage for shroud tensions on a 1987 C34?

I'm going with the advice of a sailmaker who suggests "The tops should be tight and the lowers should be snug."

Anyone know anything different?

If you want to use your laptop in the cockpit, I'd suggest moseying on over to ebay and picking yourself up one of those Panasonic Toughbooks. I think you can get of them for a few hundred bucks.

I assume they are left over from the previous owner and you're just now
doing some housekeeping.

It was only a few hoses, nothing of any importance but wanted to check it out ahead of time.

ANd left over from owners past. This thing hasn't been sailed since it was repaired after Katrina.

They appear to be yellow garden hoses...nothing too spectacular - not even a nozzle or whatnot.

Ah well. Onwards to the NOPS course!

Clearing out the lazarettes yesterday, I came across ALOT of hoses. Before the dumpster man comes around, what are they used for? Am I that dense not to see what  ight be so abundantly clear?

Thanks for the continued responses, everyone. Many of those storage ideas i have seen before, but some I haven't thought to examine. I'm off of work will 11AM and will make a recon tomorrow to check out the aft berth.

Where do you think you will put the AC?  I just did mine a few months ago.

I'm considering putting a 16,500 BTU mermaid in the V Berth and running hoses into said v berth, main salon and the aft berth. Or maybe move it into either setee storage. Will this be enough juice to pump the air throughout?

OR...get an 8,000 BTU for the V and main and a 4,000 BTU for the aft.

But again, this is questionable. The idea is to sail her to the Caribbean next July and mooring in the USVI for the season. I don't expect to be marina'd all that much. I suppose then that the ideal sleeping arrangment might be in the v berth. Thoughts?

Currently, I'm cleaning house/repairing lines, stanchions, life lines and missing windex. When I'm out tomorrow, I'm cataloging the contents of those two lazarettes.

I think the first BIG project is A/C. Or it might be the mahogany grates or maybe the...you get it. Awesome site, glad to be a member.
