Main Message Board / Re: Hull number 1645

We have hull #1686 wing keel built in 2004 and have had no complaints, so if #1645 is identical and well-cared for there should be no worries.

Sails up, engine off, gearshift in reverse is my routine...

Traded a '91 C34 in 2010 for our current '05 C34 with all amenities and love it, with very few issues other than routine maintenance.
Strongly suggest you buy the newest C34 you can afford and bust the budget if necessary to minimize age-related maintenance issues.
Good luck!

Thanks, Jeremy and Jim.  I googled microwave repair and saw an array of parts listed for my unit totaling about $100
for the ones that seem most likely to fix the problem but hesitate to order all if it takes only one of them to do the trick, so what would you suggest?  The unit is Samsung MW640WA.

Thanks, all, for your prompt responses and good ideas.

Noah, contacted local appliance repair and they wanted $125 just to look at it.
Stu, will check the C36 site.
J_Sail, will keep in mind but prefer to buy new.
Mick, am considering putting microwave elsewhere.
Mark, will see what the Admiral thinks about toaster oven.
Ken, has to be less than 10" to fit.  Will check for 0.5 units.
Jim, will check fuses to see if I can repair.
Thanks again, all!

My Samsung microwave is dead and I haven't been able to locate a new one that will fit into the slot on my 2005 C34.
The microwave has to be less than 10" high to fit into the space provided.  Contacted Catalina and no help, with the
microwave they referred me to being more than 10" high.  Surfed the internet but couldn't find one less than 10" high.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions, guys!
Will do some checking and let you know what happens.
It's boat show time here in the Sailing Capital.

Thanks all for your prompt responses.
No metal objects installed near compass.
No new electronics installed.
Will check Otto for water incursion.
Will check Raymarine tech forum.
Kind regards.

Owned my 2005 C34 seven years and Otto the autopilot always performed perfectly until earlier this season when he started steering hard to port every time.
Have not changed or added any other electronics in the cockpit or anyplace else on the boat, so am wondering if anyone can suggest a cause/fix.
Called Raymarine and left message for tech response some time ago but no response and found no help in the owners manual.

FYI - received one of those letters last week which give the impression of being from the Coast Guard, but isn't,
so thought I'd just put the cautionary word out again not to respond to such a letter, with address in Morgantown WVA
and postmarked in Santa Ana CA.

Mark, I just want to second Jim's positive comments re in-mast furling.  We've had our '05 C34 with in-mast furling for seven years
and other than a bit of a learning curve on how to deploy and stow the sail efficiently the system has worked well for us.
You'll appreciate the convenience of not having to use a conventional mainsail cover and all the other features and benefits of the '06 C350
compared to your present boat.  True, not as much power versus a conventional main so that's a factor to consider if you do any racing.
Good luck!

Best wishes in moving up to a newer and larger Catalina, Ken.
In my experiece, buying the newest boat you can possibly afford will save the expense of many repairs and upgrades
and result in a much more pleasant ownership experience for you and your First Mate.

Main Message Board / Re: Inflatable repair in Annapolis

Annapolis Inflatables is on Second St. near the Chart House so would be easy to find if you're going to the boat shows,
but haven't had repair work done there so don't know about service.
