okay. Never tried the water pump. I'll do that. Think I'll have to grind off some metal on the alternater to get it moved rearward.

I did the straight endge trick and the pulleys could be a 1/16th out and I think thats within the parameters. I appreciate all the advice I received and eventually contacted a tech at Balmar and the reply was " yes you can bridge the temp sensor leads with and on/off switch and get a 50% reduction. Now to find out how to get all that belt dust out of and from around the engine

I installed a blue circle 100 amp alternator with an ARS-5 regulator and can't keep the belts from wearing. I tried to "trick" the anlternator by setting the belt feature on the programming  as an 120 A unit with a 3/8 belt to no avail. Any comments on this anyone?

Hi Craig.. I just came back north Fla to Annapolis in March. Georgia is the only place I grounded, albeit with a wing keel. I did this at low tide tho. I had no problems in the Bahamas-Abacos or Exumas and I have the new rudder that hangs down much lower than the keel so I consider I have 5 feet under me. I wouldn't sweat any part of the trip ,if worried bump out around Georgia tho if you are a birder its a shame to miss.
Get used to watching 12 feet of water go by unendingly under you on the banks. Its a great trip.

Thanks for the info. I have the boat on the hard in Fla but 2000 miles to Georgian Bay is a lot of engine hours. Think 400 hrs going south.

I have a bit of slack/slop between the shaft and bearing may more than 1/16 in but not 1/8th. Want to make the long trek back to the great lakes from inidantown fl. any thoughts on this and how do I change the thing if warranted?
