Look in the port side cockpit locker.  There should be a Bexon screw out plate in the "floor".  Under it should be the fuel sending unit and fuel cutoff, both mounted on the top of the tank. Another way to get at it is to take off the port side pannel in the aft cabin.  ronphylhill@erols.com     ;)

Main Message Board / Table Extension

I should have mentioned in my previous post that when I was considering doing something like you're thinking of - I thought of a drop leaf.  One of the biggest problems we all have on a boat is "where do I put that modification when I'm not using it"! A drop leaf solves that problem.  After I made the aft end a drop leaf (Mainsheet article)I decided not to persue the addition to the side.  Also entering that decision was where to put the waste basket that's secured under the table just aft of the mast. A thought.  ronphylhill@erols.com    ;)

Before he traded up to a C38, Bob Bierly either made or made plans for a side table extension.  Why don't you contact him.  He's on the ICW in Flordia, but has EMail.  Contact him at bojabierly@rivnet.net Keep your message short.     ;) ronphylhill@erols.com

Give us some hints.  It happens at all RPMs??  In both fwd and reverse??  Any other symptoms?? It's always there and never goes away??  It's even there when the engine is off, but the prop is freewheeling?? ETC ??  Ronphylhill@erols.com   ;)

Jon : Sorry, I haven't been to the Chicago show.  As I said this is the best show to see the vendors(tents).  My comparasion is based on the Annapolis & Washington Shows.  Climate is nice as it's inside like Chicago. ronphylhill@erols.com

Phyllis and I will be at the Catalina Owners Booth on Thursday and Friday.  The new C35 is scheduled to make its debut.  This is the best show for talking to the "vendors".  They have time and will actually talk to you and answer your questions - especially on the weekdays.  Catalina throws a nice owners party on Friday about 1700hrs. Stop by and say Hello.  ronphylhill@erols.com  ;)

Unless you drill on the far outside edges you won't be over the haylards/sheaves.  You'll be able to see the ends of the bolts if they go all the way thru. I used self taping machine screws - easier than drill& taping. Use some antiseize or grease on the threads to prevent corrosion and a dab of caulk on the heads to prevent backing out. Think about what else you mey want to do while you're up there; i.e. a TV antenna, lightening arrestor etc. If the other fasteners up there don't have it - put a dab of caulk on them.  ronphylhill@erols.com   ;)

I'd guess that the mast cap is 1/4-5/16" thick.  Why do you need the thickness?  You'll have to go to the top to drill and tap the screws.  The cap is not removible with the mast up.  ronphylhill@erols.com   ;)

Contact Bill Beck at debacksam@erols.com or (703) 307 - 4255. He installed one in his 1991 C34.  Here's where I've seen the compressor installed in a MK I - in the V berth, in the compartment just fwd of the mast, under the Nav table, in the hanging locker by the Nav table, and after installation of a type I MSD in the port side locker where the waste tank used to be.

Bill may favor his installation, but he can give you some ideas on the pros and cons of the other places. He can also answer your other questions better than most.

David Penz is correct. Anytime that I have a question I go back to Catalina and ask David Graas or Gerry Douglas.  David usually replys back the next day, Gerry when he gets a chance.

I always call and talk to the Manufacturer - "the horses mouth". You need to be careful about answers from the internet, as you don't know which end of the horse is speaking!   Ron
