my guy does not speak English so I Will help him out with any need. We spoke and will come up with some figures and of course some needed recommendation about installing the system. By the way my system is a forced air system but hot water systems are also available.

Mike
wires come out the back of the pod to the port side through the roof just forward of the head bulkhead, down through the top of the close locker. There will be a molding installed to hide the wire coming down the bulkhead.
I will also make a molding to hide the wires passing on the roof , about 12"Long.
The only problem now is that after making all the connections, they don't work.!!!!@#$$?%&*
Never a dull moment. it is suppose to be an easy job !!!!!!!!!

Just had a Webasto Air Top 3500 installed 2 weeks ago. After the installation of a full enclosure, this had to be the cherry on the cake. Brought the boat down from winter storage to Lake Champlain this weekend, it was cold / damp 40 to 55 and rainy. We had the system running for 3 days and 3 nights, I really made a lot of point with my Admiral, she  only complained a couple of times that is was too warm, never heard her say that before !!!!!!! I strongly recommend this system to anyone living up north and wants to stretch the already short sailing season.
If anyone is interested, the guy that sold/ installed my unit sometimes has used one with very little hours on them. That's what I got
My install is very similar to the above installation.

Here is a template that I made that will be used as a guide to make a teak box that will be installed above the companionway. My question is what is the best way to bring the wiring through the roof. Would like input especially from those who have done it.
Thanks

Well I installed the WEBASTO AIR TOP 3500 forced air system today. The job will be completed tomorrow. The ducting is done and the motor installed. I Will have pics when all is done and the boat in order.
As far as the hot water heating system, which draws move amps than the forced air system,, all you are doing is heating the coolant and circulating it through the engine which also circulate into the hot water tank and heating radiators. It is possible to bypass the radiator so as to only heat the engine and hot tank.
You might want to check with truck outfitters for used unit like I did, low hours and great price. My cost for a 13K BTU forced air system, (furnace has only about 300 hours )$ 2,000.00 installed with i duct in the forward cabin, 1 in salon, and one in head with return in aft cabin. Should be plenty to also heat my full enclosure.fuel consumption between 0.04 gallon/ hours to 0.11gallon / hour.
Amperage is between 1 and  3 amp/hour
www.webasto.com  this system is almost identical to ESPAR also made in Germany

Having an Wabasto forced air system installed on my boat tomorrow. It's just like the ESPAR.
Will ask the installer more info regarding the hot water heating system and will get back  with the info

This is where a generator comes in handy, probably a 2000 watts.

Needs full annual engine and transmission service
This is not a bad idea to get the boat ready for the season. You never know what kind of maintenance the previous owner kept
Needs Head bolt and Valve adjustment
Not quite sure about the head bolt but valve adjustment would of been determined after running the engine
Needs new Heat Exchanger due to age
Not quite sure about this one, could depend on the number of engine hours and type of water where boat was used. Better be safe than sorry.
Water pump is leaking and gasket needs replacing
Would be an obvious remark after seeing the leak
Replace saltwater inlet hose
Probably has sings of wear or kink
Needs coolant recover tank
Thinking of installing one on my boat.
Needs new engine cooling system hoses
Probably has sings of wear or kink
Engine needs alignment (.008)
Indicates that the surveyor was quite diligent

Most of these comments are common repairs due for a boat that age

My instruments were mounted in pods at the helm and the pods pivoted a Little and cut the wire and caused a short That could of set the boat on fire. They were in a safe place.
I've done the exercise many times to go in and out of the companionway and no problem. It is actually quite a safe place.
We cruise on  lake Champlain that is about 100 miles long and 14 miles wide at the widest.
Might install a clear Plexi in front to add additional protection just like the one in front of the engine instrument panel. There ia always the chance that I have a clutz on board !!! I don't want to have to replace them again. Hey , I could end up being that clutz myself, no one is immune !!!!

After consideration, I think this is the way I will go. Viewing of the instruments will be good as digits are very large on the Simrad instruments. Routing of wiring will be relatively easy.
One problem I had was a melted wire from my instruments caused by the pod pivoting on the grab rail and cutting the wire and creating a short. No wonder they were not working!
Who ever said that 12 volts was not a potential for fire !!!!!

Any suggestions on how to bevel the edge of the transducer hole to get a good fit
Getting the old transducers out was quite a job, I think they were secure with 5200.
Will send pic of final installation.

This is the bracket I use for my TV.

On it I have a 13" Sharp LCD TV. The new model have a 12 volt type plug so it can be connected directly to the boat's system. Also I recommend a car stereo / DVD unit, you plug your TV into it and have great sound using the Stereo , Great for movies .

I have a 13" LCD mounted on the bulkhead of the head above the storage behind the nav table. I bought a multi position  double arm bracket which allows me to swing it so it can be viewed from different places including from the starboard seat in the cockpit. When sailing ,I secure the arm so it does not swing. Will have some pics when I reinstall the TV in a week or so
