Main Message Board / Flexofold

I am at the final stages of what has been a long decision-making process as to whether to switch props and to what make and model.  Comments on this board have been very helpful.  Thanks to all.  I've gotten quotes for my final contenders, and in response to my request to Flexofold for the discount referenced in the advertisement in the store on this site, I have been told that "the price it as it is."  I am curious as to whether anyone has purchased a Flexofold prop recently, and if so whether you received a similar response.

Thanks,
Mert

Main Message Board / Kayak Racks

Does anyone have any experience with the Garhauer Kayak Racks?  My searches didn't turn up much.  The Garhauer racks are essentially L-shaped SS tubes that bolt on the outboard side of the stanchions (2 per side) to hold a kayak.  Seems simple and straightforward, but I'm a little anxious about the stress on the stanchions (constant load and getting hit by a wave).  It would seem that the outboard positioning would caution against sailing with much heel to leave a safety factor to ensure the kayak never hits the water.  If you use them, how hard are they to install and remove? Do you leave them installed all the time or put them on only when needed?  I'm thinking I'll want them installed only for certain cruising destinations with the ability to remove them for beer can racing, etc.  Are there other approaches to getting kayaks off the deck I ought to consider?  Thanks for your thoughts and advice.

Main Message Board / New England Ropes VPC

Has anyone tried NER VPC line as a halyard?  I'm frustrated by the scallops along the luff of my main with the current Staset halyard, but the NER line selection guide seems to jump from sta-set X to T-900 for main and jib halyards.  I could go with Sta-set X or T-900, but the specs on VPC are better than Sta-set X and the cost differential is negligible.  VPC's costs appears significantly less than T-900.  I'm contacting NER, but does anyone have real world experience?

Thanks

...a follow-up on the lively string last month following the sea monster attack on Black Dragon.

Thanks to all who answered the question about a clogged water intake thru-hull yet another time.  The Long Island Sound sea monsters attacked us on the way back from a beer can race last week as a thunder storm was approaching.  Because I saw the recent thread, problem solved.  Had the thread not been answered again by the helpful souls out there, who knows.  I can't hope to read everything on this site in preparation for a problem, and I didn't have my laptop on board, let alone my C34 CD or an EV/DO card, so I couldn't have done the search in time to solve the problem. I do try to keep up on recent posts, so that thread was fresh in my mind and the key to keeping my blood pressure down.  THANKS!   :clap
