I have a factory-installed set of Raymarine instruments, ca. 2005. Th knot meter seems to be running fast, in that I've compared it to a GPS under all kinds and directions of current, including none. Do you know if it's possible to re-calibrate it?
Steve ... Google it.
I know we can with our 2012 60's. Ours runs slower by a knot and a half or more.
Although we haven't bothered to as a gps is accurate for us.
We do have a measured nautical mile marked on the shore where we sail.
You need to time runs in both directions to work out actual speed over the distance.
I read it in our instruction manual.
Hope this helps though yours is an earlier model.
good luck
Tony
You also should be able to calibrate it by setting it to the speed over ground number from the chart plotter if you have the instruments and the chart plotter networked together through SeaTalk (if all Raymarine) or NMEA 0183.
Thanks, Tony and Clay. Today I found the user manual online and it looks like it shouldn't be too hard to do.
