Post by: alex bijkerk on December 22, 2002, 05:41:49 PM
re my catalina 34 m2 , 1999 , hull no 1486 ,with 230 engine hrs , based in Sydney, Australia .
A few days ago , I started my engine ,no raw water flow . Turns out camshaft has sheared ,metal bits missing somewhere in engine .This is despite twice yearly pump service by marine mechanic .I am now going to install belt driven external bronze pump . Nice Christmas present.

Lot of posts on this problem. Do a Search on this engine and the raw water pump. Be sure an specify the raw water pump NOT the fresh water pump.

Don't forget to contact Universal and let them know you had this problem.  They might assist in the payment of damages.  Seems like I read that they were interested in knowing who had this problem.  Good luck.
