Title: Internal plastic Lewmar portlight trims
Post by: TonyP on August 13, 2012, 11:54:47 PM
Has anyone recently found a source for these?
Ours have become brittle.
I am wondering if I could make something out of 18mm ply and spraying white.
Or even router some plastic board.
Any other thoughts.

Thanx in advance
Tony

Thanx Cory

On their website they indicate no stock and not made any more.
I have sent an email earlier this week but no reply.
I have sent pics with measurements in a reply email to Lewmar.
I live in hope.

Tony : When I checked, Lewmar stated they no longer have them.

I've seen some posts where owners have made their own out of teak/wood.

Try Defender in Connecticut (www.defender.com).

They have a lot of Lewmar parts and are very close to the Lewmar facilitiy.

Steve and Guys : That was in the old days.

Now most chandleries do NOT stock item not in their catalog (and some $$ items in their catalog).  They have the item that you purchased shipped direct from the manufacturer to you as a specially orderd item!!!

This keeps down their inventory costs. I know this is true for hatches from Defender and Zantrex chargers/Balmar regulators from West Marine !!

If the trim isn't broken, spray with several light coats of plastic spray paint. I did mine (on my last Catalina 34) and they looked great and were no longer brittle. There is a beigh that just matched the interior. Try Home depot. aloha
