Saw this on the Sailing Anarchy site, passing it on.
I was wondering this week why all the currents around the PNW were going so badly awry. Come to find out, Garmin chartplotter antennas have a rollover glitch that ocurred last weekend. Check your system time and date. If you're back 20 years to Jan 5/6 1990 you'll need to switch over your source from Garmin to NMEA. It's easy-- once you know the deal. Handhelds don't seem to be affected.
Go to your menu.
Select GPS
Change source from Garmin to NMEA
Problem solved.
The new Garmin 545 chart plotters are missing the current data for the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay - the Maryland current data is there.
I've been bothering Garmin for the past year and they "say" it should be added in the January or July revisions in 2010. They say!?!
