Title: a Link 5100 question
Post by: nickseeger on April 19, 2009, 02:13:00 PM
Hi All, my '89 C34 has a Link 5100 Datamarine wind speed, depth and wind direction system. My (top of mast) wind speed/direction indicator is broken and I'm trying to find Datamarine to find out which wind sensor unit are compatible with my system. Does anyone know how to contact Datamarine? or has anyone been able to use other wind speed / direction sensors that work with a Link 5100 system. (or worst, do I know have to upgrade to NME2000? )

as always, thanks for the input and suggestions,
Nick Seeger

You didn't describe how "broken" your masthead unit is.  If it still looks physically ok, it could be corrosion where it plugs into the mount at the masthead.  If the cups and vane aren't turning, again it could be corrosion or spider webs jamming up the works.  If all looks good up top, have you checked the connector at the bottom of the mast for corrosion?
