Title: up date on the hairline cracks
Post by: mrousseau on November 28, 2007, 06:58:53 AM
Well were back with an update on our new 2007 Catalina with all those hairline cracks.

Our dealer has been working relentlessly to resolve our problem with CY.  We now know that the problem is related to the layup of the boat and in the last 6 months we have developped  more cracks.  They are all concentrated on the deck and the grid inside.

The marina where we are at has done a very long analysis of our problem and the cost of repair is in the vicinity of $77,500.00.  Frank Butler is prepared to repair in the spring the gelcoat only but refuses to fix the layup. We have now put everything in the hands of the Attorney General's office in hopes that CY will act in a responsible manner.  I'm sure all boat manufactere's have once in a while built a lemon.  I guess this is our case.

Are their any of you with new boats with the similar problem.

Thanks  :cry4`

Michel and Annick,

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your new boat.

We have a 2006 hull number 1760 that had a couple voids on deck that needed to be taken care of. I have noticed a couple small hairline cracks around a port side stantion but nothing like you are dealing with.

Good luck on getting it resolved.

Thank you Tom and Lyne,

I''m glad to hear yours is minor.  We are trying to find out if there are others like us and have they been taken care of.

Have a great day.
