Title: Bow Pulpit replacement
Post by: mvazmina on December 27, 2001, 10:58:13 AM
I seem to remember back a couple of years that there was a thread about replacing the bow pulpit. After a run in with an unforgiving concrete dock I am going to have to pelace mine. I have an 1986 #27 and the yard called Catalina and was not able to any leads on locating one. Does anyone know of a salvage yard or somewhere to look.We are in the Tampa/St. Pete area, but can go anywhere. The yard is planning on fabricating a new one and I think there has to be a better way.

On a second note, due to space restrictions the yard is going to put the boat on the hard for the repair. I had the bottom done, blisters repaired, and etc. about 9 months ago. I wondered if there were any suggeations on anything the should be done while she is out of the water.

Thanks in advance

Earlier this year I whacked mine and whined about it here in a post or two. Catalina had them available for about $350 and it was available almost immediately.

Shipping this sucker can almost be as expensive as the part itself!

Before you replace, think about having it repaired. A few years ago I had a run-in with a dock and bent my pulpit. Here near Detroit we have a SS fabricator who cut out the damaged sections, replaced them, polished the whole thing so it looked better then new and charged less then $150. An extra bonus was that all the original mounting holes still lined up, so reinstallation was a snap.

It's worth a try before you replace.
