Title: cold starting
Post by: Rick on December 15, 2001, 06:29:47 AM
After sitting for a couple weeks, when first starting, there is a long hesitation from the time I depress the the starter switch until the starter turns over. It's a universal M35. When the engine has run and is warm, the starter works normally.  The connections on the starter switch are clean and corrosion free.  Any ideas on this cold starting hestitation?

Thanks,

Rick, I had a similar problem and found it to be the in-line fuse to the starter.  The fuse holder leads corroded.  Apparently the current to the starter was just enough to burn through the corrosion.  I cleaned the contacts and have had no problems since.
