Title: Which Length Edson Tiller Arm?
Post by: KeelsonGraham on May 16, 2022, 06:32:16 AM

Hi to all you guys who have successfully completed a below decks autopilot install.

The Edson tiller arm comes in two lengths, 10" or 15". Which is best for a MkII? I'm guessing the shorter one??

My MK1 uses the 10 inch. The challenge I have observed that the MKll boats have had is not enough exposed rudder shaft space between the top rudder bearing and the radial drive wheel to have clear space to bolt on the tiller arm. Good luck.

Thanks Noah. Yes, the MkII is definitely short on free rudder stock. I've just measured mine and there's just enough for the Edson.

The length of the tiller is first determined by the requirements of the ram, then your physical limitations of the boat.
