Title: Saloon table thickness
Post by: waughoo on October 11, 2021, 07:53:15 PM
So, my saloon table is in need of remaking and i went out to buy the MDO in 3/4" thickness.  When I got back to the shop and checked the tabletop, it measures out at more like 7/8".  7/8" ply does not exist.  Has anyone encountered this?  If you've rebuilt your table, what did you use?

Interested to find out the same, I'd like to add a hinged part on the port side so it can be flipped up and be used by people sitting on the port side settee.

I didn't measure, but the width of the fiddles  might give you a clue.

When i offered up a fiddle to the 3/4 MDO, it hung past the bottom edge by a bit more than a 1/4".  On the existing table they were past by about a strong 1/16".
