Title: pock marked gel coat
Post by: Vic Suben on October 19, 2018, 01:25:31 PM
I wonder if anyone has seen localized pock marks in the gel coat.  In Surprise, the pock marks are in the water line strip and also just above the stripe.  This is only on the port side.  Any suggestions as to the probable cause and a cure are welcome. :clap

The PO probably used an acid to remove waterline staining and damaged the gel coat.  Your options are to either live with it depending on how bad it is or repair it.  Others may have repair techniques.

Vic,
Not having seen them I'm guessing you have are what I was told are splash blisters.  Got them on my previous boat when I switched docks and the small waves would hit on the stern.  They would disappeared over winter.   You could move the waterline (and barrier coat) higher.  That's what I did.

Vic : The port side blisters are from the port side list.  Add weight to the starboard side i.e. add a starboard water tank!!
