Those descriptions are a VERY tough read.  What a shame.  Unfortunately those lost are the victims instead of the incompetents that caused these disasters.  They should be hung from a yardarm to send a message to others who perform the duties we charge them with in such a lackadaisical manner. 

Actions surround the Fitz is a clusterfornication at best.  Had the Crystal initially ducked behind the Maresk (as IMHO it probably should have) instead of trying to outrun her, the collision may not have happened.  The Maresk is the only one that smartly figured out "I'm gettin' the hell away from this potential mess."

In the one case - relieving the Captain, the XO and the Master Chief (all asleep) for not being in the bridge at 01:00 is mind boggling??  (ref : Washington Post)
Relieve them for NOT training the Deck watch personnel properly would be more appropriate!!

An Army prospective
