Title: Hot water tank
Post by: saltygirl on April 17, 2017, 05:40:31 PM
We have a 1998 Catalina MK II. The last 2 times we have run her engine for more than an hour, the water gets too hot(engine temp is normal),almost boiling and sets off the pressure valve. We have flushed the hot water tank and run the engine previously without the pressure valve releasing.  Thoughts?

The water heater can't get any hotter than the engine coolant (unless on shore power.)

Suggest you change the relief valve, it's probably cookedkk

salty : I's been my experience that if you ever opened your pressure relief valve (manually or because of too much heat) that some of the sediment gets into the seal and it will always drip.

Like Ken said - change out your relief valve.  Look at Ace hardware, Home Depot or Lowe's for a replacement.
