Hi All,
I'm new(er) to sailing, specially larger boats. I've done a little with sunfish as a kid, but now own a 34. What books/resources would you recommend obtaining/reading?
Go!

I too started with a friend's Sunfish, graduated to my own Snark, a friends Aquacat, then my Sunfish, then a 16' Bowrider, then a C-30.
I 'own' the following and wouldn't trade the practical experience/knowledge gained acquiring the below for any book in the world...
ASA Basic Keelboat Certificate; Niagara College Sailing School, St. Catherines, Ontario
ASA Coastal Cruising Certificate; Niagara College Sailing School, St. Catherines, Ontario
CYA Keelboat Cruising Certificate; Niagara College Sailing School, St. Catherines, Ontario
ASA Bareboat Cruising (passed practical and awaiting oral test)
United States Power Squadron Piloting Safety Certificate, Buffalo Power Squadron

Also in the 101 Topics, Electrical Systems 101, here is a link to some good books and ideas.

"Ashley book of knots", in case you invite somebody aboard you really like. (or somebody you don't like).
The practical:. https://www.amazon.com/Boatowners-Mechanical-Electrical-Manual-Essential-ebook/dp/B006QA720O?ie=UTF8&qid=1467864992&ref_=la_B000AQTEW4_1_4&s=books&sr=1-4
The not so practical:. https://www.amazon.com/Riddle-Sands-Record-Secret-Service-ebook/dp/B0092SIXMI/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1467865073&sr=1-1&keywords=riddle+of+the+sands
Ben,
Part of my enjoyment of sailing is with how simple sailing is and how much there is to learn and be taught. Sometimes by your boat. Every good sailor is always learning something. Here is my 2 go to books and one other.
To fix or adjust most anything sailboat Don Casey's "This Old Boat"
https://www.amazon.com/This-Old-Boat-Second-Completely/dp/0071477942
For sail trim Don Guillette's "Sail Trim Charts & Guide"
http://sailtrimproducts.com/products.html
For boat handling and docking...Captain Jack Klang I've seen him at boat shows and some videos on the web ...worth looking for...try

Just a word of caution....Sailors are generally a very trust worthy group....But not with these books....put your name in the books and be very careful loaning them out.
Hope you find this helpful.
Jim
I refer to these all the time:
Marine Diesel Engines (Nigel Calder)
Sailboat Electrics Simplified (Casey)
Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair (Casey)
Refrigeration for Pleasureboats (Calder)
Also good:
How Boat Things Work (Charlie Wing)
Get Rid of Boat Odors (Peggie Hall)
Hope this helps...happy reading...

Harry, if you can get a hold of the
older version of ASA Cruising Fundamentals by Harry Munns Copyright 1991 you will be in for a pleasant surprise. Most of the images and example were take on a C34! Our boat
Esprit du Vent is sail number 422. The illustrated boat is of that vintage.
Cheers,
Bob
