Title: Shaft size
Post by: mregan on March 20, 2013, 03:11:52 PM
Anyone happen to know the shaft size on the MK I.  I'm going to the Defender sale tomorrow and wanted to pick up a bunch of zincs.

My memory and the manual agree it is one inch exactly.

Shaft is 1".  I like magnesium "zincs" for fresh water.

mre : The shaft is 1 inch diameter.

To get a Zn that makes the best contact on the shaft look for the ones that have a "BB" inside.

a thought

I wouldn't think that Rhode Island location was fresh water?

Dave is right about zinc not working in fresh water.  My Flexofold prop came with a zinc anode that I replaced after the first year. There was no evidence of pitting on it so it was not doing anything.  The magnesium anode showed significant "sacrifice" after one of our short seasons.
