Title: Fuse Holder Behind Alternator
Post by: yonar on September 01, 2012, 08:12:28 PM
I tried to start my engine "M-25XP" this morning, repeatedly pushed start button nothing no response. Checked my batteries all connections wires etc. nothing helped. Finally I discovered a little fuse holder in-between alternator and starter. Opened it cleaned put it together everything works.
Does anybody know what the function of this fuse is ?
Does anybody know what is the amps of that fuse ?

We "created" the Critical Upgrades thread for just this question.

Try it, you'll like it.  :D

Your priorities should be to replace your hoses.

Turk : That is a 20amp fuse.

From the age of your boat I'd advise that you have an extra in-line fuse holder onboard.  Most of us have had to replace our!!   A thought

It just happened to me last week. Refusing seems to be a common "critical" repair.

Guys : There are two things to look for in that fuse holder:
1. The contacts (one is spring loaded) get corroded
2. The vibration from the engine over time will weaken one or both of the fuse attaching wires

That's why I mention to purchase another fuse holder and have it onboard
