Title: Nipple on base of thermostat housing
Post by: DaveM on May 26, 2012, 05:43:19 AM
I have a m25xp. There is a small nipple in the base of the thermostat housing on the starboard side that takes fresh water to a small nipple in the top of the belt driven water pump. The nipple in thermostat housing is showing a lot of corrosion. Any one know if it is pressed in as on the older water pump or screws in as on the newer versions of the water pump. Thanks

David : Look in your parts manual.

I'm sure that the nipples screw into that housing.  A thought

Ron thanks for reply. I looked at parts drawing and as you said both pump and housing show threaded nipples. Reason I was asking when I replaced water pump I found old water pump nipple was pressed in. I wondered if anyone had replaced thermostat housing nipple and if it was also pressed in. Replacement nipple is threaded so I may have to tap hole.
