We placed a couple of cheap throw rugs on our cabin floor. In the Mexican summer the rubber backing melted on the floor. I would love to get this up. I have tried alcohol. It did not work. Does anyone have a magic chemical that might be able to remove this rubber backing?
Brad : Yes, try WD40! It will lift off that old rubber stuff. A thought
"Goof Off" or "Goo Gone" would likely do the trick.
You may want to try acetone. This works on automotive finishes to remove tuff scuffs without damaging the clear-coat. I'm not sure what it will do to varnish. Good luck.
Brad : WOW!
Don't think I'd try acetone on anything, but a very small piece of your flooring in an obscure place!
Thanks for the info
Heading down this weekend I will try
1)WD 40
2)Goof OFF
3)Put another rug over it. :D
Brad.....you might first want to try scraping as much off as possible with a plastic putty knife, as long as you're not damaging the wood by doing that or you could use the wd 40 together with the plastic putty knife as it gets soft. Then try the 3 items on your list.
