Title: Is anyone else thinking of doing a furling gennaker?
Post by: Jim Hardesty on October 05, 2011, 07:33:34 AM
Has anyone talked to Catalina about buying this furling gennaker?  I would be interested is the practicality and cost.   Just by looks it's got my interest.

If you go to the Catalina store, for a C34 Tall Rig, cost is almost $4000! for Bow Sprit, furler and sail.

NO !

Not too sure why you'd want to take a nylon sail and furl it up and leave it up with out a protection strip to protect it from the sun's UV ??
Easier to just put it in a chute sleeve and take it down.

Ron, I think the furling unit takes the place of a sleeve.  That is the whole unit is designed to be put up and taken down each time you use it...

Jim,
If you need some information about the gennaker I could explain it to you some more. It is a grest product that fills the void for light wind and can be handled by two people.
