Title: Possible leak in the traveler
Post by: mel low on July 07, 2011, 11:06:58 PM
I have haul # 162 an 86. I have a leak where water comes out of a crack in the ventilator and drips onto the chart table. The water is brown so it must be traveling through the wood. I believe the leak maybe from the screws that attach the traveler. I removed the nut and washer from the 9" bolt that is the through bolt and got some water. It took an in-pack driver and heat to break the bolt loose at the traveler. I have not been able to get any of the other screws to break loose. Looks like I may have to drill out the heads.

My questions are. Does anyone know how long these screws are? Have other had similar leaks or should I look elsewhere.

Not certain if this is what you are asking but I thought I would try to help.
Firstly, check out the "Critical Upgrades"  (through the forum or the Tech Wiki) specifically the thru hull bolts for the traveller.  Not a lot of amplifying info, but there is a reference to bolt length indicating 9".

Hope this helps.  :abd:

I had exactly the same issue.  Take the traveler track off and rebed it.

Kevin's right, check the CU topic: http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,5071.0.html
