Title: Boat Line Up at Catalina
Post by: tommyt on July 28, 2010, 02:08:48 PM

On one of the other boards I frequent the word is that Catalina is now discontinuing the 320 and the 350. Apparently a couple of dealers have also said that they cannot be ordered any longer. I know that both boats are still on the Catalina website, but so were the 34 and 36 when they were being phased out.

That leaves a pretty big hole between the 309 and 375. Any rumors on what will fill the space if this true?

If this is the case, they will be replaced with Beneteaus, Bavarias, Hanse et cetera.....

I have it on good authority that there is a boat being built now to take over that size range. It will be more up-scale than previous models were.

Let's hope Gerry puts handholds down below.  And an aft head.

I'd like to see a 345 -- a beefed up 34 (or slimmed down 350) with the head aft.

Just like they offer "tall rigs" and wing keels for varying conditions, they need to offer models with "tall cabins" for guys like Jay. My C34 headroom was just fine for my efficient 5'6" frame. I also appreciated the reasonable step to the toerail from the dock.

Thanks, Craig!  They have been offering decent headroom in their newer models (350 and 375 for example).  Hears to hoping the new boat has standing headroom (6'7"+), and bunks to match. :-)

309 + 375 = 684

684 divided by 2 ( I couldn't find the symbol for divide on my keyboard) = 342

I predict the new boat will be called a  "342"

Remember, you heard it here first!

If they follow the naming convention they have done on the 375 and 445 it should be a 345....34 1/2 feet, LOL. Maybe a redeveloped 34, a very popular boat.

I have also heard rumors of a new model coming.

That's what they said about the C375, it was going to be a "replacement" for the C36.  The C36 guys certainly don't think so.

I agree Stu,

It's hard to replace a classic, we should hear more over the next 30-60 days.
