Title: Boat Numbers by Ken Juul
Post by: horsemel on May 19, 2010, 02:07:53 PM
Got the new Mainsheet and enjoyed the Boat Numbers insert by Ken.  I am going to cut it out so when people ask why the boat will "only" due 7.3 k I can answer without sounding like an idiot.  There is a lot of great information there.  Thanks Ken

I agree, Ken: very handy collection of data. Good job!

Only question I had was about your comment that boats with a Capsize Ratio less than 2 should not participate in offshore races. Shouldn't that be more than 2??

Regards,

John

Yes you are correct, not sure how that error got past all the proof reading.  Capsize ratio less than 2 is good.  Will get a correction printed in the next Mainsheet.

Guys,

I suspect there is another error in the displacement numbers. While 15,000 lbs, I think, is getting closer to the C34 correct displacement as opposed to the 12,000 that appears in the owners manual, 13,500 can't possibly be correct for the C36.

Based on information on the message board, I revised the C34 numbers.  For the other models I used published numbers.  I sent all the data to Catalina for confirmation, Gerry Douglas is the Technical Editor, they suggeted no changes.
