Title: Replacing the Water Heater
Post by: Terry on June 15, 2002, 07:17:32 PM
I just replaced my water heater.  Someone tells me I need to add antifreeze into the system (heat exchanger?).  Anybody know what I need to do?

The water heater uses the 'freshwater' engine coolant, so if you have anti-freeze in your engine coolant, you're all set.  If you don't, you should, even if you're in Miami or San Diego, because anti-freeze is also anti-corrosion.

I followed the system hoses and noted the antifreeze in the radiator heats the water in the water heater.  So I added 50/50 antifreeze/water to the radiator (just like Ron said).  But how to "burp" the system?  I'll look on this web site.  Thanks...
