Title: My Fridge Died
Post by: waterdog on May 30, 2009, 11:16:49 PM
The compressor packed it in.  It was a 26 cubic foot Frigidaire.   I decided to replace the whole unit rather than go through the expensive repair.   My decision had nothing to do with the desire to salvage the handles and redeploy them in the galley...

Steve,

Looks great!  I have a 36" stainless grab rail that I was thinking of tasking to the same purpose.  Since you beat me to it, how did you attach the ends?

Cheers,

Rick

I salvaged the rails from my dead fridge.   To attach them I screwed them on from behind.  This required removing the fiddles.   I haven't put new plugs in yet because ripping up the counter top, putting in new laminate and insulating the ice box are still on the to "To do" list.

Question Steve...does the door to the aft cabin still open 90 degrees or does the projection of the rail interfere?
