Title: Alternator belt
Post by: Jack Hutteball on June 18, 2008, 09:50:15 PM
Doing a search I find a lot of information on Gates belt numbers for the M25 engines.  Does anyone have the number of the proper Gates belt for the M35 engine with the stock alternator?  I would prefer not to take the current one off to get a proper fit at the auto parts store.  The belt is fine now, but I need to be carrying a spare.

According to the parts catalog at Torresen Marine the same belt is used on the M25xp and M35.  Since it is a spare, buy it and next time on the boat do a dry fit, if it's not right it easy to exchange.

Jack : Just read the numbers off the existing belt while it's in place.  Then go to any automotive store and get a replacement.  Just make sure that your new belt has "notches" in it - that aids cooling.
A thought.
