my rub rail has come out several times and i have put it back in. i have read the posts about replacing it with a new one and also the hints about putting it back in the groove. i realize that the rail is getting old and inflexible ( like its owner).is anyone aware of anything that can be done to help keep it in short of buying a new one.
You can put screws into it and into the side of the hull where it is coming out. Use good quality stainless and not too long of screws and not too tight. If the rub rail is not flexable put a hair dryer or something on it to soften it. In South Florida this is not a problem as the hot weather and sun keep it malable. I have done this a couple times where the boat has bumped something and "rubber strip" rail pushed out.
I have also done this on other boats with rub rail problems.
Joe : What you need to do is "bite the bullet" and buy (75 ft) new rubrail (if your aluminum holder is in good shape).
Think you'll be much happier with new rather than making more holes in your hull screwing the old vinyl in place.
