Title: Extended life coolant
Post by: Roc on September 25, 2006, 12:46:03 PM
What's the concensus out there for the maintenance schedule for changing the engine coolant.  I changed mine 3-1/2 seasons ago usingExtended Life coolant.  I was thinking of changing it again, but was told I can go longer.  Any thoughts??

Roc : What I'd do is look on the back of the "antifreeze" container and call the 800 tel. phone # and ask them that question.  Then I'd temper the answer with the  knowledge that they are in the business to sell antifreeze!!

On the older boats we usually are fixing something that causes the draining of the antifreeze, so I change it during that fix!!  If I'm worried about the "condition of my antifreeze, I add some "Rust Inhibitor" to the coolant recovery system!!
