I need to replace the cutlass bearing on my 2000 C34 MKII and while I am at it, will switch to a dripless seal. I a couple of questions but just so you know I did look through the FAQS but realized that most of the posts were for pre MKIIs and was not sure if it was relevant.
For the 34MKII:
1. If I want to get a PSS is the 1" shaft and 1 1/2" shaft log the correct size?
2. Can I remove the prop shaft without removing the rudder?
3. Where is the best place to get a new shaft and cutlass bearing? My shaft is bronze and was told that I should switch to a stainless version.
Thanks for your help,
Eric
Eric : Yours are not new questions.
The shaft will pass the the rudder - see the projects listing site.
The best price that I found was the factory. You need to shop around and see if that's still true.
You might want to try the "Gore" dripless packing and save yourself the $$ of the PSS. It works just as well!!
