Title: Drain Hole Damage
Post by: Richard Bain on September 25, 2004, 03:10:43 PM
I have some cracking in the glass and obvious damage where the drain holes are---scuppers?? along the side rails...
Does any one have and experience in repairs to this area?

Thanks
Rich

I've had the same problem.  Try this for a previous post ont the subject:

The problem is there was  no fiber glass in that area.  So you have to add some underneath, using epoxy.

Richard : In the early C34's, Catalina had some problems with getting the gelcoat into the corners and the side tracks.  The only fix that I know of is to patch the area with gelcoat.  I've made some temp fixes with caulk, but permanent repair is with gelcoat.

Thanks !
I think I will drill out the hole, let it dry over the winter, and re-glass.
The gel coat is cracked, and lifting at one of the holes. I imagine that there is a wood top piece that run all along the top creating the rail?

I hope it is not too wet
