Title: Experience using friction rings at the base of the mast
Post by: tobyfleming on July 28, 2024, 08:33:53 PM
Hello, I would like to ask about my experience using friction rings at the base of the mast. How do you attach the ring to the peg in the floor plate around the mast and is it any troublesome to use?

Thank.

Why do you want to use them there instead of blocks?

I can't say there would be much benefit there.  Low friction rings are good for twings and barber haulers where you don't want a block weighing down a sheet in light air.  At the base of the mast at the center of the boat, it would seem a bad trade to go from a ball bearing block to a low friction ring.
