Title: Sherwood Raw Water Pump - Replace or Rebuild
Post by: DEMERY on November 23, 2003, 04:15:10 PM
I have a 1990 Catalina 34 with a 25xp. The raw water pump is a Sherwood G-903 (new version, three screws from the back). It just started to leak a drop or two from the weep hole when you turn the engine off. What's the recommendation, should I have it rebuilt or buy a replacement. I've heard mixed reviews on the success rates of rebuilds. If I have it rebuilt, who would I take it to. I'm ok with the R & R of the pump, but question my abilities to press new bearings and seals, etc. Looking for any thoughts or opinions.

Thanks, Dave

SHERWOOD

Dave

It's really youor choice, but would you want a weeping antyhing on your boat?

Of course, you're an expert on the search engine on this website and message board (two separate search engines), so it shouldn't be a problem to find:

It's fun reading, should answer your question.

If you have ANY questions about the integrity of your seals, replace the pump.

Thanks Stu,

I think I was using the WEB Site Search Engine and not the Message Board one. Thanks for the direct link, lots of good information.

Thanks, Dave
