Title: Harken furler - furling line
Post by: Pete G on June 20, 2023, 02:22:05 PM
The line running to the furler reaches its end with 2 or 3 turns of the jib still unfurled.  Is there a way to release the furler and spin on additional line?

Quick way:  first pull the jib out a little to put a couple of turns back on the drum.  Then bring the sheets forward and coil them up.  Then manually wrap the rest of the jib around the forestay followed by 4 or 5 wraps of the sheets.  Then lead the sheets aft and you should be all set. 😎

Not just simple, but obvious, once I read your post.  D'Oh.

I do it the same way as Ted.  My only addition is to count the turns on the drum, write them down someplace and next time you put that sail on you can put the correct number of turns on the drum before putting the sail on.  Each sail could have a different number of turns.  I've used tags on the sail bag to document the number of turns.
